Landscape Trace
Pinhole photography, drawings and casts.
Helen uses sculpture, photography and drawing to re present and re examine a rural space. Through this exploration she questions how landscapes can be defined, and asks what makes a space into a place?
The physical experience of walking through a landscape is central to her practice, an important way in which place can be created; known and understood. Walking is one way in which identity can be found in rural landscapes.
Landscape trace explores one specific rural landscape space near to the city of Bristol. Through repeated walks and visits, in which casts of the paths are formed, path drawings made and pinhole photographs taken, Helen documents traces of a human experiential relationship with the landscape.
