Helen's work is a personal exploration of spaces.
She has been developing her ideas through drawing and sculpture. Her work often focuses on the overlapping processes and visual qualities of these methods of working.
Helen graduated in psychology and sociology. She studied drawing and sculpture at Bristol School of Art, developing her current practice. In 2006 she completed a Diploma in Art and Design, and is now studying for an M.A in Art, Media and Design.
Helen's sculptures of the human form are introspective wire drawings in three dimensions that evolve from her sketches. The sculptural lines and the open space defined by them, present a continually changing visual experience. The pieces are sculptural spaces for contemplation, the creation of an inner space. They then blur the boundaries of that inner space with that of its surrounding environment.
Helen has been using a variety of materials to explore connections between thought and drawing, such as her dynamic resin works. These resin drawings are intuitive, performance based pieces that rely on both memory and experience.
She has recently been working on a series of drawings exploring the unstructured coastal expanses around the UK.
